Born, LaKisha Rochelle Grimmett, Chef L'Soul Filled; is the second oldest of 9 children raised by Rev. Richard and Mrs. Thelma Grimmett in North Muskegon, MI. She graduated from Reeths Puffer High School. LaKisha was chosen by her educators and peers to represent her country as a Rotary Exchange Student in 1993-94; and spent a year in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil!. Later, she earned her B.A. degree in English and Creative Writing, with a minor in Spanish Language from Western Michigan University. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Fraternity and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
LaKisha is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese languages and loves to travel. Her love for cooking was developed under the tutelage of her mother, who ran a highly successful catering company in the Muskegon area for more than 30 years. Post the untimely death of her mother and after much prayer and consideration; LaKisha launched out to start Soul Filled Cakes & Catering in 2014. With the tagline: "Food that is good to and for your soul".
She is the mother of one daughter, Rheyma DeLynn Harris, born in 2011; and currently hosts two businesses in Muskegon, as well as Detroit, MI.
LaKisha is known for her big smile, laughter and quick wit. She has a knack for dealing with difficult patrons, guaranteeing that after one encounter with anyone - they will leave Soul-Filled,
She has a love for the community at large. She is benevolent and always looking for an opportunity to BLESS OTHERS.
SHE IS KNOWN FOR COOKING WITH LOVE! You can taste the passion, love and special TOUCH FROM GOD in anything she creates.
She has worked as a translator, educator, administrator and neurosurgical assistant. However, her love has always been to feed family and friends.
Her goal: "Lord help me to be the catalyst, for the change I want to see, in my world!
She is available for private events: weddings, business lunches, dinners, cocktail receptions, and more. We would love to discuss how to be a part of your next event.
